REVIEWS and Q&A
I liked the style a lot - but on my PCT they were the only ones which broke easily. 3 of 4 were broken, while all of the Shepherd and MSR stakes were doing fine.
Use only on grass resp. in soft ground then they are good
Weak point where the string threads through, I can bend with my fingers!
Replaced all my tent stakes with the ultralight titanium ones. They are awesome!
I appreciate that the heads on these pegs are welded rather than glued/epoxied. The limited surface area is a liability for hold power but I got them with the expectation that I can get them into frozen ground more easily than pegs with more surface area. I haven't put them through this test yet. On paper they fit the bill.
I really like these so far. I do have to angle them a little more to keep my tarp guy out lines to stay on them, but they are very robust, yet light weight. I am able to hammer on the top in hard soil to get them to stick better. So far, I really like them.
I absolutely hate automated review requests.
This request came today. It item isn't even scheduled to arrive for another 6 days.
Love titanium. Will always reasons with a minimal review if the review request arrives prior to the item.
Thanks for wasting electricity on extraneous mail. As I'm sure you know, there is more than enough energy to go around... Oh wait. That's backwards. There is a superfluous uses of energy which increase our carbon footprint.
Maybe this review will possibly induce a reduction of 'no brain, for and forget' auto mailers corporations are so fond of.
The stakes were good, I'm sure that they will be fine. I was disappointed that they did not come in a bag. I had to go buy one extra.
I tried it out and they worked very well, although they are even lighter than my former tent pegs from Hilleberg, which were also very good.
I have both types of nail peg the thick ones are brilliant. These light one's are not one snapped at the eye when pushing it into the ground with my trainers. And when I tried to drive it into hard ground using a stone it bent at the eye and I was only tapping. But my heavy one drove in no problem. So I only use them in soft ground.
My girlfriend just came back from Iceland, one of the eight stakes is very slightly bent around the hole, nothing I can't fix in two minutes, and she told me that these stakes were the only ones to make it into the hard rocky ground there, the Easton Backpackers were unusable for most of the trail in comparison, MSR groundhogs would have also failed miserably.
The one downside is that you still need wider pegs whenever you meet softer ground, but these are a must buy for anyone going to Iceland... plus they're cheap.
