The meaning of KaTi has its’ origins from the Japanese word “katai” meaning “hard” The hardness of the material used in the blades of our KaTi Series knives has a Rockwell Hardness (HRC) of between 50 and 52. In comparison, pure titanium has an HRC of less than 1 (meaning it doesn’t even make the scale). Grade 5 titanium, also commonly referred to as Ti-6Al-4V, has an HRC of approximately 41. The superior hardness of our KaTi Series knives make them a great choice when lightweight and durability are preferred. At approximately 45% lighter than steel, it is now possible to carry a blade that maintains a sharp durable edge yet is not going to weigh you down!
