once i figured out the coffee to water ratio it actually makes a really good cup of coffee

I just tested this at home buying the bot 450 and the coffee filter to nest in my 700- this works with the filter in the 450 and then putting them upside down in the 700. I then tested using the filter as a “bake-packer” with a silicone cup- using bisquick water, freeze dried strawberries, chia and almonds was able to make a muffin in my bot 700. With the leftover water I made coffee. This is going to be awesome when I hit the trail!

I picked this up on a whim to have a travel coffee filter without worrying about packing filter paper.
Turns out I use this almost every day at home when I want fresh drip coffee just for myself.
I haven't taken it camping yet, mostly because the new instant coffees are very convenient and are getting to be pretty good.
But with the small size and light weight, this is what I will take if I take fresh coffee.
Overall, it works as advertised.

I was really looking forward to the coffee filter and wasn't disappointed either: - The workmanship is flawless - The legs are deliberately a bit stiff, which makes setting and aligning really easy - Can be cleaned very well and easily - You don't need an extra paper filter! !! This is how making coffee is fun on the tour!

Like all my Vargo gear I've accumulated over the years, the design of this device is flawless and the result is unbeatable functionality.

The moveable arms allow the filter to fit nearly any size cup, but they're sturdy and they seat perfectly on the lip of the cup without any need to hold it in place. The little D-ring really is a nifty, foldable handle that doesn't heat up at all. The double-mesh construction makes for remarkably un-muddy coffee, regardless of coarse or fine grind. The cone size and amount of ground coffee it holds are perfectly dialed -- making just the right amount without allowing your boiled water to get cold. It fits perfectly into my Vargo coffee cup; the BOT pot and other Vargo containers easily accommodate the filter plus coffee and stove. I find it super easy to clean with minimal or no water.

If you're serious about your coffee or just drinking it to get up and going, this is the best way I've found to make it on the trail.
