Are External Frame Packs More Comfortable?

Our uniquely designed external frame backpack uses an integrated lumbar plate to better transfer weight load from the upper frame to rest comfortably on the hips. We recommend that about 70% or more of a backpack's weight should be transferred to the hips to reduce stress on your shoulders or lower and upper back. Our external frame positions the weight higher for a more upright walking posture and a more ergonomic load transfer to your lower body.

Which is Better: Internal or External Frame Backpack?

This is a difficult question to answer with the multitude of backpacks designs available. In general, internal frame packs are designed for versatility across changing terrain, better balance, and increased maneuverability. Our external frame backpack is sort of a hybrid that offers many similar features as an internal backpack but with better weight transfer to the hips.

What are the Advantages of a Framed Backpack?

Our framed backpack's main advantage is the ability to transfer weight to the hips more efficiently via a sturdy frame that transfers weight to the hips. The full external frame means that weight can be suspended uniformly across the entire structure and will not sag and cause stress to the upper and lower back or shoulders.
