I made my own version of this years ago with picture hanging wire and hooks (usually come together in a picture hanging kit). Braided wire handles repeated bending way better than solid-strand. Works like a charm, is lighter than this setup as it does away with the ring, and therefore is also more durable as the ring could get bent out of shape. It's a bit more fiddly as you need to keep the pot hanging or as soon as you release the weight the hooks fall off. In practice this hasn't been a problem when hanging it over a fire. I came up with this not only for cooking over a fire but also for using the caldera cone system without having to pack a pot grabber, which wouldn't work anyway as the Bot is down inside the cone. Once nested, the cone holds the hooks in place. This system would definitely be more secure in general though. I just worry about bending it.
